Dynalabs Maxi ABS Filament 2.5kg — Bulk ABS for Serious Production

ABS printing at production scale demands bulk material. The Dynalabs Maxi ABS packs 2.5 kilograms onto a single spool for $37.49 ($15.00/kg), giving you the heat resistance, acetone-smoothing capability, and impact toughness of ABS with fewer spool changes and a competitive per-kilogram cost. Available in Black, White, and Turquoise — the essential colors for functional parts and professional prototypes.

ABS is the material of choice for parts that need to survive heat up to 100°C, withstand repeated impacts, and achieve a smooth injection-mold-like finish through acetone vapor treatment. The 2.5kg format is designed for production environments where individual 1kg spools run out too quickly but 4kg+ rolls are too large for the printer's spool holder.

Bulk ABS Considerations

ABS is more moisture-sensitive than PLA. With 2.5kg on a spool, the filament may be exposed to ambient humidity for days or weeks during extended production runs. Invest in a filament dry box or print directly from a filament dryer to maintain consistent quality from the first gram to the last. Signs of wet ABS include popping sounds during extrusion, rough surface texture, and poor layer adhesion.

Pro Tips

Black ABS is the single most common color for functional engineering parts — it hides imperfections, looks professional, and produces the strongest parts (unpigmented Natural is technically stronger, but Black is a close second). The Turquoise variant is unusual for ABS and gives you a distinctive visual option for branded products or color-coded components in multi-part assemblies.

Best Applications

Production runs of functional parts, jigs and fixtures for manufacturing, automotive components, electronics enclosures, batch acetone-smoothed display models, RC vehicle components, and any production environment running ABS at volume.
