NYLON FILAMENT

Nylon Filament for 3D Printing — Industrial Strength Meets Desktop Printing

Nylon filament is the go-to material when your 3D prints need to survive real-world stress. Known for its exceptional toughness, flexibility, and heat resistance, nylon is used across industries — from functional prototypes and snap-fit enclosures to load-bearing brackets and wear-resistant gears. If PLA breaks and PETG isn't tough enough, nylon is your next step up.

We carry two engineering-grade nylon formulations: Nylon 6 for maximum strength and abrasion resistance, and Nylon 12 for lower moisture absorption and easier printability. Both are available in 1.75mm diameter, 1kg spools, and ship free across the USA.

Nylon 6 vs. Nylon 12 — Which One Do You Need?

Nylon 6 ($18.05/kg) delivers superior tensile strength and wear resistance. It's the workhorse for mechanical parts, hinges, and functional tools. It absorbs more moisture, so dry storage is essential — but once printed correctly, parts are incredibly durable.

Nylon 12 ($35.61/kg) absorbs significantly less moisture, making it easier to store and print. It offers better dimensional stability and chemical resistance, which makes it ideal for precision parts, medical device prototypes, and outdoor applications.

Printing Tips for Nylon

Nylon requires a heated bed (70–80°C), an all-metal hotend (245–265°C), and an enclosed printer to prevent warping. We strongly recommend drying your filament before use — a filament dryer or oven at 70°C for 6–8 hours eliminates moisture-related issues like stringing and bubbling.

Why Choose Nylon Over Other Materials?

Compared to ABS filament, nylon offers better impact resistance and flexibility. Compared to PETG filament, nylon handles higher temperatures and mechanical stress. For heavy-duty engineering applications where PLA simply won't cut it, nylon delivers professional-grade results on a desktop printer.
