Polypropylene (PP) filament brings one of the world's most widely used industrial plastics to your desktop 3D printer. PP is prized for its exceptional chemical resistance, low density, and fatigue resistance — the same properties that make it the material of choice for food containers, medical devices, automotive components, and living hinges in mass manufacturing.

Why Print with Polypropylene?

PP stands apart from other filaments in several critical ways. It's chemically inert — resistant to acids, bases, solvents, and most household chemicals. It's lightweight, with a density of ~0.9 g/cm³ (lower than PLA, ABS, or PETG). And it offers outstanding fatigue resistance, meaning parts can flex thousands of times without cracking — perfect for snap-fit enclosures and living hinges.

Chemical-resistant containers, food-safe prototypes, medical device housings, waterproof enclosures, automotive clips and brackets, flexible hinges, and laboratory equipment. PP is also FDA-compliant in many formulations, making it relevant for food-contact and biomedical prototyping.

Printing Tips for PP

PP requires a heated bed (85–100°C) with a PP-specific adhesion sheet or packing tape. Nozzle temperature: 220–240°C. Enclosed printers are recommended to minimize warping. PP bonds poorly with most bed surfaces — using a PP build plate or sheet is the most reliable method.
