Dynalabs Nylon 6 Filament 1.75mm — Industrial Toughness for Demanding Applications

When PLA cracks, PETG dents, and ABS isn't flexible enough — Nylon 6 is the answer. The Dynalabs Nylon 6 is a true engineering-grade filament that delivers exceptional toughness, wear resistance, and fatigue life. Parts printed in Nylon 6 can flex thousands of times without breaking, resist abrasion in sliding and rotating applications, and handle impact loads that would shatter any PLA or ABS part. At $18.05 per kilogram, it's remarkably affordable for an engineering material.

Available in 6 colors: Black, White, Natural, Optical, Fluo Green, and Fluo Orange. The Natural and Optical variants can be dyed with fabric dyes after printing for custom color matching — a unique advantage of Nylon over other 3D printing materials.

Nylon 6 vs. Nylon 12 — Which One?

Nylon 6 is stiffer and stronger than Nylon 12, with higher heat resistance (180°C vs 150°C). It's the right choice for structural parts, gears, and high-load applications. Nylon 12 is more flexible, easier to print, absorbs less moisture, and is better for snap-fit enclosures and parts that need to bend repeatedly. Think of Nylon 6 as the "strength" option and Nylon 12 as the "flexibility" option.

Recommended Print Settings

Critical: Dry your filament before printing. Nylon absorbs moisture from the air rapidly — even a few hours of exposure degrades print quality. Dry at 70–80°C for 6–12 hours, then print directly from a dry box or filament dryer. Nozzle at 250–260°C, bed at 80°C with PVA glue stick for adhesion. An enclosed printer is strongly recommended to prevent warping. Print slow (30–50mm/s) for best layer adhesion.

Pro Tips

Nylon parts printed at 100% infill with 4+ walls approach injection-molded strength. For gears and bushings, use concentric infill pattern so the layer lines wrap around the part's axis — this maximizes wear resistance in rotating applications. The Natural variant is semi-translucent and accepts Rit DyeMore fabric dyes beautifully — dip the finished part in hot dye solution for custom colors not available in filament form.

Best Applications

Gears, bearings, bushings, hinges, cable clips, tool handles, snap-fit enclosures, drone components, wearable devices, medical prototypes, jigs and fixtures, cable ties, and any part that needs to survive repeated mechanical stress, friction, or impact without failing.
