West3D High Performance Black PEI Flex Plate — 0.65mm Spring Steel, 0.3mm PEI, High-Temp Magnetic Backing, Single and Double Sided

West3D's own spring steel PEI flex plate — built thicker than anything else on the market and designed to outlast the plates you've been replacing. The spring steel sheet is 0.65mm thick — 30% thicker than West3D's own standard plates and more than double the thickness of most market alternatives. The PEI surface is ~0.3mm thick per side, also above standard. The result is a plate that holds its shape through hundreds of print cycles, doesn't curl at the edges, and gives you more surface life before the PEI wears thin. Available in single-sided smooth, double-sided smooth, double-sided smooth/texture, double-sided texture, and single-sided texture — with or without the West3D logo etched on the smooth side.

⚠️ PETG on the smooth side will adhere aggressively. Always use a separating agent (glue stick or similar) on the smooth side when printing PETG. Printing PETG directly on smooth PEI without a release agent risks delaminating or permanently damaging the PEI film.
⚠️ Contact probes (TAP, similar) on the smooth side. High-force contact probes can leave small impressions in the smooth PEI. These typically diminish when the plate is reheated and do not affect print quality, but if you use a TAP-style probe regularly, use the texture side for probing or consider a different smooth-side plate variant.
⚠️ Smooth side may ship with a protective film. Remove this film before printing.

0.65mm Spring Steel — Why Thickness Matters

Most flex plates on the market use spring steel at 0.4–0.5mm. Thinner steel flexes more easily for part release, which sounds like an advantage until the plate starts developing a set — a permanent warp or bow that develops in thinner steel after repeated thermal cycling. At 0.65mm, this plate has enough stiffness to resist deformation over the long term while still providing the pop-off flex you need to release prints. Combined with the ~0.3mm PEI layer per side — substantially thicker than the thin-film PEI on most budget plates — this gives you more surface material to wear through before the plate degrades to the point of needing replacement.

Smooth Side — Glass-Like First Layer, Maximum Adhesion

The smooth PEI surface delivers excellent adhesion to PLA, ABS, ASA, PC, and most engineering-grade filaments when the bed is at temperature. As the plate cools, adhesion releases and most prints pop off with minimal force. For filament types where you want guaranteed release on cool-down, the smooth side gives you the cleanest, flattest first-layer surface finish available on a flex plate. Use a glue stick on the smooth side for PETG — without a release agent, PETG bonds directly to PEI so strongly that it will peel the film on removal.

Texture Side — Matte Finish, No Release Agent Needed for Most Materials

The textured (powder-coated) side leaves an ultra-fine texture pattern on the first layer of your print — the aesthetic many Voron and CoreXY builders prefer for functional parts. The texture also provides mechanical grip rather than pure chemical adhesion, which means most materials release cleanly at room temperature without warping risk and without needing any release agent. It's also safer to use with contact probes like TAP since the textured surface is more resistant to impression marks than smooth PEI.

Oversized Format — Easy On, Easy Off

Like all West3D flex plates, this plate is slightly oversized relative to the nominal build area. This extra margin makes aligning the plate to your magnetic base faster and more forgiving — you're not trying to place a plate that exactly matches the magnet edge with no room for adjustment. The oversize is calculated to work with standard magnetic bases for each size without overhang issues on typical Voron-class printers.

Available Sizes and Variants

Size For Build Plate
125×125mm Voron V0 and 120mm build printers
255×255mm Voron V2.4 250mm, Trident 250mm
305×305mm Voron V2.4 300mm, Trident 300mm
355×355mm Voron V2.4 350mm, Trident 350mm
Variant Best for
Single-Sided Smooth Glass-like finish, maximum part detail, glass-smooth bottom surface
Single-Sided Texture Matte texture finish only, TAP-safe probing side
Double-Sided Smooth Two smooth surfaces — flip when one side needs a break
Double-Sided Smooth/Texture Most versatile — smooth for detail prints, texture for functional/abrasive materials
Double-Sided Texture Maximum durability, zero adhesion surprises, TAP-safe both sides

Material Compatibility Guide

PLA, PLA+ ✅ Both sides — smooth for best surface finish
ABS, ASA ✅ Both sides — smooth side preferred for adhesion
PETG ⚠️ Smooth side only WITH glue stick — texture side direct is safer
TPU / Flexibles ✅ Texture side — easier release than smooth
PC, PA, PA-CF ✅ Smooth side with bed temp 80–110°C
PEEK, PEI (ULTEM) ⚠️ Verify magnetic backing temperature rating for your bed temp
