Charcoal Gray Standard PLA+ is a dark, cool-toned gray at Pantone® 296 UP — positioned between Castle Gray (#73787B) and Midnight Black (#353535) in the 3D-Fuel gray spectrum. It reads as definitively dark without the full visual weight of black, which makes it the more versatile choice for prints where Midnight Black absorbs too much light or reads as featureless at a distance. Surface detail, layer texture, and geometry remain visible in Charcoal Gray in a way that they disappear into Midnight Black. On functional parts, enclosures, and aesthetic prints alike, Charcoal Gray sits in the sweet spot that designers and product developers reach for when they want dark-but-readable. Built on 100% virgin NatureWorks Ingeo 4043D PLA resin — no fillers, no stretchers — it prints with the same consistency and predictability as every other color in the 3D-Fuel Standard PLA+ lineup.

⚠️ Print temp runs 5–10°C higher than standard PLA because 3D-Fuel uses no fillers. Start at 210°C and adjust from there.

Charcoal Gray occupies the position most useful for functional enclosures and housings where a professional dark finish is required but surface geometry needs to remain legible, multi-color AMS prints where a dark neutral base color needs to contrast clearly against lighter accent colors without competing with them, and cosplay and prop builds where matte dark gray reads better under stage lighting or photography than true black.

100% Virgin Ingeo 4043D — No Fillers, Consistent Color Batch to Batch

Dark grays are among the most color-sensitive filaments to manufacture consistently — small variations in pigment loading against a neutral PLA base shift the perceived warmth or coolness of the gray between production runs. Because 3D-Fuel uses only virgin NatureWorks Ingeo 4043D resin with no fillers or recycled content as the base, the pigment loading is consistent against a chemically identical carrier from spool to spool. Charcoal Gray at Pantone® 296 UP is the same color on every spool, matched to the same reference. Ideal for Bambu AMS Multi-Color Printing

Charcoal Gray's neutral dark tone makes it one of the most useful AMS base colors in the 3D-Fuel range. Loaded as a background or structural color, it provides high contrast against whites, creams, yellows, and any saturated color without the starkness that makes Midnight Black difficult to pair with mid-tone colors. Because all 40 Standard PLA+ colors share the same Ingeo 4043D base and identical print profiles, switching between Charcoal Gray and any other color on separate AMS lanes requires no profile adjustments — set the profile once and run all lanes on the same settings.
