LDO Smart Orbiter V3.0 OEM Replacement Frameless Fan — 3010 (30×10mm), 24V, Dual Ball Bearing

Official OEM replacement for the frameless hotend cooling fan on the LDO Smart Orbiter V3.0 (SO3) extruder. The SO3 uses a 30×10mm (3010) frameless fan specifically chosen by LDO and Dr. Lorincz Robert to minimize extruder weight and reduce the overall toolhead footprint — the absence of a conventional fan frame is not an oversight, it's a deliberate design decision that contributes to the SO3's ~135g total weight. When this fan fails or gets damaged, this is the exact replacement spec.

⚠️ Compatible with Smart Orbiter V3.0 (SO3) only. Not compatible with Orbiter V2.0 or V2.5 — those use different fan assemblies.
⚠️ Frameless design — not a standard 3010 fan. A conventional 3010 fan with a plastic frame will not fit the SO3 housing correctly. This replacement must be frameless to seat properly in the recessed fan mount.

Why the SO3 Uses a Frameless Fan

The Smart Orbiter V3.0 is engineered around a single objective: maximum extrusion performance at minimum toolhead mass. Every component is chosen to contribute to that ratio — including the cooling fan. A conventional 3010 fan carries a plastic frame that adds both weight and external dimension. The SO3's recessed frameless fan mount integrates the fan directly into the aluminum housing, eliminating the frame entirely and recessing the fan body flush with the extruder profile. The result is a smaller, lighter toolhead that maintains adequate heatsink cooling without the bulk of a framed fan assembly. Replacing this fan with any framed 3010 variant will not seat correctly in the housing — only a frameless unit fits.

Dual Ball Bearing — Long Service Life for High-Cycle Use

This fan uses dual ball bearings rather than the sleeve bearings found in most low-cost cooling fans. Ball bearings have significantly longer rated service life, maintain consistent airflow performance over time, and are more resistant to the orientation changes a toolhead fan experiences during fast CoreXY moves and acceleration reversals. For a component that runs continuously during every print session, the bearing type directly affects how long the fan lasts before airflow degrades or the bearing begins to generate noise that indicates impending failure.

When Do You Need This?

Order this when your SO3's heatsink fan shows signs of failure — audible bearing noise, reduced airflow causing heat creep during long prints, or a fan that has stopped spinning entirely. Because the SO3's frameless fan is not a standard off-the-shelf part, a generic 3010 from a hardware supplier will not be a drop-in replacement. This is the correct OEM unit that fits the SO3's recessed housing geometry without modification. Keeping one as a spare eliminates downtime when the fan eventually needs replacement.
