Dynalabs PLA Zeta Filament 1.75mm — Premium Clarity and Depth

The Dynalabs PLA Zeta is a specialty PLA formulated for maximum optical clarity and color depth. Available in two striking finishes: Clear Crystal — a translucent filament that lets light pass through your prints — and Jet — an ultra-deep black that absorbs light for a rich, premium appearance. At $16.99 per kilogram, PLA Zeta is designed for makers who want their prints to stand out visually.

Standard PLA in "clear" or "natural" typically prints with a cloudy, milky appearance. PLA Zeta's Clear Crystal formulation is engineered to minimize crystallization during cooling, which preserves transparency. The result is noticeably clearer prints — especially at lower layer heights and higher temperatures where the layers fuse more completely.

Recommended Print Settings

For Clear Crystal: Print hot (215–225°C) and slow (30–50mm/s) to maximize layer fusion and transparency. Use 0.1mm layer height for the best optical clarity. Set 100% flow rate and increase nozzle temperature until layers disappear visually. A polished glass bed gives the smoothest bottom surface, which acts as a clear "window" on the first layer.

For Jet: Standard PLA settings work well — 200–210°C at 40–80mm/s. The deep black pigment hides layer lines naturally, so it looks clean even at 0.2mm layer height.

Pro Tips

To maximize transparency with Clear Crystal, print vase-mode (spiral vase) objects with a single wall — this eliminates infill lines that block light. For flat panels or lenses, use 100% rectilinear infill at 0.1mm layers and 225°C. You can also sand and polish Clear Crystal prints with progressively finer sandpaper (400→800→1500→2000 grit) followed by a plastic polish like Novus #2 for near-glass clarity.

Best Applications

Clear Crystal: Light covers, lamp shades, display cases, lens prototypes, diffusers, vases, transparent enclosures, product mockups requiring see-through elements. Jet: Premium display models, photography props, architectural models, high-contrast art pieces, and any print where a deep, luxurious black finish is desired.
