Bondtech DDX v3 Direct Drive Extruder for Creality — Dual Drive BMG Upgrade

The Bondtech DDX v3 replaces the stock Bowden extruder on Creality Ender and CR-10 series printers with a precision dual-drive direct drive setup based on the proven BMG (Bondtech Mini Geared) design. The result is dramatically better retraction control, reliable flexible filament printing, and access to a wider range of materials — all with a 2-screw installation that takes under an hour. The v3 update adds a new white plastic main gear assembled with a new method to reduce run-out and improve surface quality.

Compatible Creality Printers

Compatible with most Creality Ender and CR-10 series printers including Ender-3, Ender-3 Pro, Ender-3 V2, Ender-5, Ender-5 Pro, Ender-5 Plus, Ender-6, CR-10, CR-10S, CR-10S Pro, CR-10S Pro V2, and CR-10 Max. Not compatible with stock hotend on CR-10 V2/V3 — requires DDX Adapter Set + hotend upgrade for those models.

A DDX v3 Adapter Set specific to your printer model is required to complete this installation. The adapter set is sold separately and includes the fan shroud, mount, and model-specific hardware. Do not purchase without confirming your printer's adapter set is available.

Why Direct Drive over Bowden?

The short filament path of a direct drive extruder gives precise retraction control — eliminating the stringing and oozing that Bowden setups struggle with on flexible filaments. TPU, TPE, and other flexibles become reliably printable. Retraction distances drop from 6–8mm (Bowden) to 1–2mm (direct drive), reducing heat creep and improving overall print quality on all materials.
