Ambrosia ASA-CF Filament — 1.75mm, 1kg, 100% Virgin ASA + Chopped Carbon Fiber, UV & Weather Resistant, HDT 88°C, Hardened Nozzle Required, Cardboard Eco Spool

Ambrosia ASA-CF is what you reach for when ASA alone isn't stiff enough and standard carbon fiber filaments aren't weather resistant enough. The combination of 100% virgin grade-A ASA resin and chopped carbon fiber strands produces a material that inherits the best of both: ASA's UV stability, outdoor durability, and impact resistance — amplified by carbon fiber's rigidity, dimensional stability, and superior layer adhesion. The result prints with exceptional consistency thanks to a tighter-than-standard ±0.03mm diameter tolerance, zero fillers or additives, and Ambrosia's commitment to using only virgin pellets throughout production. This is outdoor-grade, structurally demanding filament that delivers every time.

⚠️ Hardened nozzle required — this filament is highly abrasive. Carbon fiber will destroy a standard brass nozzle within hours. Use a hardened steel, ruby-tipped, or tungsten carbide nozzle (minimum 0.4mm). A tungsten carbide nozzle like the Undertaker is strongly recommended for maximum longevity.
⚠️ Enclosure strongly recommended. ASA requires a stable ambient temperature to prevent warping — 40–45°C enclosure is the sweet spot. Large flat parts will warp without it.
⚠️ VOC / fume warning. ASA-CF emits volatile organic compounds when heated. Print in a well-ventilated area with appropriate respiratory protection. Do not sand carbon fiber parts without PPE.
⚠️ Cardboard spool glue rated to 70°C. If using a filament dryer above this temperature, print a spool clip before placing the spool in the dryer to prevent the spool from separating.
Dark colors only. Carbon fiber infill produces inherently dark finishes — bright, neon, or fluorescent variants are not possible with this material.

ASA + Carbon Fiber — Why This Combination Exists

ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate) is already the material engineers reach for when outdoor UV resistance is a requirement. Unlike ABS — which degrades, yellows, and becomes brittle under prolonged UV exposure — ASA maintains its mechanical properties and color stability outdoors indefinitely. It's the material used for automotive exterior trim, outdoor signage, and weatherproof enclosures because it doesn't need coatings or UV inhibitors to survive.

Adding chopped carbon fiber to ASA takes that outdoor-capable base and significantly increases its structural performance. Carbon fiber increases the filament's flexural modulus — the material becomes meaningfully more rigid under load, resists flex and creep better, and achieves superior layer adhesion compared to unfilled ASA. The fiber alignment during printing also improves dimensional stability along the print axis. If you need a part that holds tight tolerances outdoors under mechanical load — a bracket, a mount, a structural panel — ASA-CF is the direct upgrade over standard ASA.

Storage & Moisture

ASA-CF absorbs moisture over time. Store unsealed spools in an airtight container with desiccant between print sessions. Moisture-absorbed filament will produce bubbling, stringing, and poor layer adhesion. The cardboard spool ships vacuum sealed with a desiccant bag — keep it sealed until you're ready to print.

Safety — Read Before Printing

ASA-CF emits Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) when heated. Always print in a well-ventilated area with appropriate respiratory protection. Carbon fiber filaments carry additional handling risks — do not sand, cut, or machine printed CF parts without a proper respirator and eye protection. Wear nitrile gloves when handling. Carbon fiber particles are an irritant and potential respiratory hazard if inhaled.

Who Is This For?

Ambrosia ASA-CF is the correct material for outdoor functional parts that need both UV stability and structural rigidity — the combination that neither standard ASA nor indoor-only CF filaments can provide alone. Primary applications: automotive exterior brackets and trim, outdoor enclosures for electronics and sensors, UAV and drone structural frames and mounts, marine and coastal environment hardware, architectural scale models for outdoor display, and any structural part that lives outside and sees mechanical load. If you're currently using standard ASA for outdoor parts and finding them too flexible under load — or using CF filaments for structural parts and finding them degrade in UV exposure — ASA-CF eliminates both problems in a single material.
