Vertigo MK1 — Auto-Ejecting CoreXY 3D Printer for Continuous Production

The Vertigo MK1 by Automated Layers is the first CoreXY printer built from the ground up for 24/7 unattended production. Its proprietary auto-ejection system tips the build plate 90°, cools the surface, scrapes finished parts into a collection bin, and starts the next print — automatically, without human intervention. Queue hundreds of hours of prints and let it run. West3D is the official launch partner alongside LDO Systems for this machine.

Auto-Ejection System — The Core Innovation

Every other printer requires a human to remove the finished part before the next job can begin. The Vertigo MK1 eliminates that bottleneck entirely. After a print completes, the automation sequence runs in full:

  • The 400W heated bed tilts to 90°
  • Forced-air cooling rapidly drops the build surface to release temperature
  • A dual-action nylon scraper bar travels beneath first-layer height, lifting parts from the edge
  • Parts are guided safely into a collection bin — build surface and finished prints undamaged
  • The bed returns to position and the next job starts automatically

Paired with 5kg spools or an AMS/MMU unit, the Vertigo MK1 can run unattended for hundreds of hours. One operator can manage an entire fleet.

High-Speed CoreXY — Premium Components Throughout

The Vertigo MK1's CoreXY motion system is built with components chosen for performance under sustained high-speed operation — not for cost reduction. Berserker linear rails provide smooth, precise linear motion. Genuine Gates belts maintain tension and dimensional accuracy over extended run times. LDO SUPER POWER high-temperature stepper motors deliver high torque while handling the thermal demands of a heated chamber environment. The result is tight tolerances and consistent print quality at aggressive accelerations.

Active Chamber Heating — Up to 50°C

The Vertigo MK1's forced-air bed cooling system doubles as a chamber heating mechanism. Warm air circulating from the 400W build plate maintains internal chamber temperatures up to 50°C — the thermal environment that engineering-grade filaments like ABS, ASA, and Nylon require to print without warping or layer separation. The same system that ejects parts also creates the chamber conditions for demanding materials.

Hitchcock Toolhead — Filament Cutter + Multi-Color Ready

The Vertigo MK1 ships with the Hitchcock Toolhead, which includes a reciprocating filament cutter that prevents jams during automated multi-print sequences. The toolhead is compatible with multi-color printing setups — AMS, MMU, or similar systems — making it viable for complex multi-material production runs, not just single-color batches.

Klipper Firmware — Full Control, Open Source

The Vertigo MK1 runs Klipper with a Mainsail interface, accessible from any device on your network. All the Klipper ecosystem tools — Input Shaping, Pressure Advance, custom macros, remote monitoring — are available out of the box. The auto-ejection automation sequence is controlled through Klipper macros, meaning it can be tuned and customized for different part geometries, materials, and ejection timing.

Who Is This For?

The Vertigo MK1 is built for three use cases where conventional printers create operational bottlenecks. Print farms where labor cost per part is the primary constraint — the MK1 lets one operator manage a fleet instead of babysitting individual machines. Small batch manufacturing where consistent overnight or weekend-long runs are required without supervision. And power users who run large personal queues and want to stop manually resetting prints between jobs. If you're printing at volume and human intervention is your bottleneck, the Vertigo MK1 is the machine designed to solve that specific problem.
