Phaetus Dragon UHF Hotend — Ultra-High-Flow All-Metal Hotend for V6-Compatible 3D Printers

The Phaetus Dragon UHF (Ultra High Flow) is the high-throughput evolution of the well-established Dragon hotend lineup. Designed for builders and speed printers who have already hit the volumetric ceiling of a standard hotend, the Dragon UHF combines an elongated plated-copper heatblock with a volcano-style extension nut to create one of the longest melt zones available in a V6-footprint hotend — capable of up to 45 mm³/s (Phaetus official rating), with real-world configurations reporting up to 70.5 mm³/s depending on heater power, nozzle size, and tuning.

Available in Blue or Black. Filament diameter: 1.75 mm.

⚠️ Heater cartridge and thermistor are NOT included. You will need to source a compatible heater and thermistor separately for your printer's toolhead.
⚠️ Hot tightening required. Always perform a final nozzle tighten at operating temperature to prevent leaks between the nozzle and heatblock.

Extended Melt Zone — The Core of Ultra-High-Flow Performance

Standard hotends throttle your print speed at the melt zone. When filament can't liquefy fast enough, you get under-extrusion, skipped steps, and failed prints — no matter how fast your motion system moves. The Dragon UHF solves this at the source. Its elongated plated-copper heatblock — matched with a volcano-style extension nut — dramatically increases the length of the active melt zone, giving filament more dwell time at temperature. The result is a hotend that keeps up with fast CoreXY and belt-driven printers without sacrificing extrusion consistency. This is the upgrade that unlocks the actual speed potential of your printer.

Titanium Alloy Heatbreak — 0.25 mm Wall for Maximum Thermal Isolation

Heat creep is the silent killer of high-speed printing. When heat migrates up the heatbreak into the cold zone, filament softens prematurely, jams accumulate, and print quality degrades. The Dragon UHF uses a titanium alloy heatbreak with an ultra-thin 0.25 mm wall, providing exceptional thermal isolation between the hot and cold ends of the assembly. Thinner walls mean less material conducting heat upward — a sharper thermal gradient, more reliable retraction, and significantly reduced clogging risk, especially at sustained high speeds.

One-Handed Nozzle Changes — Low-Conductivity Titanium Screws

Nozzle swaps on most hotends require two tools and risk burning your fingers on the heatblock. The Dragon UHF uses low thermal conductivity titanium retention screws that stay cool enough to handle during nozzle changes — allowing safe, controlled swaps without fully disassembling the toolhead. An important quality-of-life feature for multi-material workflows or frequent nozzle rotations between abrasive and standard filaments.

All-Metal Design — Built for Engineering-Grade and Composite Filaments

With a fully all-metal filament path, the Dragon UHF handles the full range of engineering and composite materials without degradation from PTFE off-gassing or tube softening at high temps. Whether you're printing structural parts in Nylon-CF, PA-GF, ABS, ASA, PETG, PC, PEI (ULTEM), or PEEK, the Dragon UHF maintains dimensional accuracy and consistent flow across the full operating range of your printer's heater cartridge — up to 500 °C depending on your heater.

V6 Nozzle Compatibility — Swap Nozzles Without Changing Your Ecosystem

The Dragon UHF uses the standard E3D V6 thread and sealing geometry, which means your existing library of V6-compatible nozzles — brass, hardened steel, plated copper, ruby-tipped — work directly without adapters. A 0.4 mm plated copper nozzle is included in the box to get you printing immediately. Upgrading nozzle type for abrasive materials is a direct swap with no hotend modification required.

When Do You Need This?

The Dragon UHF is the right choice when your current hotend is the bottleneck — not your motion system, not your extruder. If you're running a tuned Voron, a belt-driven CoreXY, or any printer where you've pushed speeds past 150 mm/s and started seeing consistent under-extrusion, the Dragon UHF removes that ceiling. It's also the correct upgrade when moving to abrasive or high-temperature composite materials that demand an all-metal path and reliable performance over sustained print sessions.
