The difference comes down to chemistry. PCTG replaces a portion of PETG's molecular structure with cyclohexane dimethanol (CHDM) — a ring structure that makes the polymer more ductile under impact instead of brittle. The practical result: up to 30× the impact toughness of standard PETG, better inter-layer adhesion, greater optical clarity in natural variants, and lower moisture absorption that makes it more forgiving to store and print without a full drying cycle every time you open a spool.
