How Castable Resin Works in the Lost Wax Process

The workflow begins by printing the master pattern in castable resin on an MSLA or SLA printer. After washing and curing, the pattern is sprued and invested in casting investment plaster. The flask is then fired in a burnout oven — the resin vaporizes completely, leaving a perfect negative cavity in the investment. Molten metal is cast into the cavity, the investment is broken away, and the finished metal part emerges with all the detail of the original 3D printed pattern.
